Mars
Watch
This website was created to provide links to information on the weather events of Mars. Those events being clouds, dust storms, Polar Hoods, and the Polar Ice Caps. On each website, the author's name is provided, along with any other credit due. Also featured on this website are my amateur images of the Mars 2005 apparition and the 2007-2008 apparition. See link at bottom for the images. Of note is the late October dust storm of 2005. Some of the images were featured on CNN, MSNBC and other major news networks along with Astronomy Magazine. Mars 2009 -2010 is here. As I write this, April 15, 2009, no amateur images of Mars have come in yet. Mars can be found in the early morning sky, and I'm guessing with scopes 12 inches +, albedo features can be had. I fully expect the first images to start coming in within the next few weeks. I'll start giving it go around June. 2007 - 2008 was very disappointing. Perhaps 2009 2010 can make up for it and I honestly can't see it being much worse than 2008. A special thanks to Jeff Beish and Don Parker. Two pioneers of Mars observation and study who I'm lucky to be acquainted with.
